This months training is dedicated to Monty and Merrill. This is the
case of a second lot of heroes in the one month. Monty has been
attending play groups on a regular basis and although we were making
progress with encouraging Monty to join in and play there was something
holding him back and I couldn' t quite put my finger on it. Merrill,
Monty’s owner agreed so they attended a training session. Although it
has only been a few weeks...with consistent routines, more exercise,
association reward training and long lead work.. The difference in
Monty has been remarkable.
When I arrived to pick Monty up for his play group he has always been
hesitant to the point of following him around the yard until he trusted
me to put a lead on . This week for the first time he cam swiftly to
the gate backed away only for a moment then started initiating play
with me and then let me put the lead on straight away. At play group
has always loved to be chased but he is now also chasing, he is
wrestling and going for the toy when thrown with the rest of the dogs.
Merrill has mentioned significant changes in the house with visitors
and John, Monty' s dad has noticed more control whilst walking. This
makes me happy to know that the communication lines between Merrill,
John and Monty are open. Well done keep up the great work you are
doing. As you can see consistency is the key.
